Depths of Winter is a 7 track electronica/glitch record which reflects on a period of immense musical experimentation as well as personal hardship. Written during my first few months of living in the UK, isolated living and social situations and an irregular sleeping schedule set a backdrop for these tracks.

Sounds from the record were extensively mangled and over-processed from digital or sampled sources, forming cold and inhuman soundscapes. However, the process of writing these tracks were a process of changing perspectives, and synthesizing a method of composition that was mostly abstract. The highly derived conventions of electronic and dance music were torn down and reshaped in favor of chaotic bursts of sound strung together with pieces of dance music familiarity.

In the end, the music and visuals aim to subdue the intense emotional expressions of writing music in my headspace at the time, and leave an understated platform from which listeners can derive their own meaning.
Much time was spent with graphic designers Integra & Major on creating the aesthetic of the record, drawing from my personal taste of abstract digital art and the others' background in nostalgic-digital design.

It has been a rewarding collaborative process getting this record out to the world and we hope you enjoy it.

A few criticisms: I wish there were some more vocal samples from the anime to ground the listener more in the world of Evangelion. I also wish that some of the tracks were longer to explore the drums and sound more, especially Katsuragi which starts off with a great intro but then seems to end abruptly and shortly into the groove. That aside I think this is a great album with wonderful sounds and drums. It’s a hard choice to pick one favorite. Instrumentality is a close tie with Chance! Love it! Dionysus Virus
